Sriom Inc NZ – Talent Nite 2017

It was a cold winter night. Sri Om Inc is celebrating its 11th anniversary on 29th July 2017 @ Mt Roskill Intermediate Hall. The lights slowly glowed bright green as the MC Radha took to the stage to announce the commencement of the show.

The guests started hustling to their seats as the chief guests were called to light the traditional lamp to formally start the ceremony. The performances were kicked off with a traditional guru song by Sriom Padmini Nrithya Kala Niketan honoring HH Jagathguru Sriom Adisakthiyendra Swamigal.

The primary goal of Sri Om Inc’s Talent Nite is to provide a stage for individuals and groups of the local community to showcase their talents in a safe and judgement free environment. Sri Om, specifically encourages children however performers range from 5 – 75 years of age.

As Radha (MC) started warming up the crowd and introducing the performers the show started to heat up with colorful dances by returning performers such as Medha who performed a traditional South Indian dance (Bharatanatyam piece), Anujay school of Dance who performed a traditional South Indian dance with a touch of new age, and the lovely Anika who performed a Bollywood number.

Some key highlights of performances were the exciting duo of Shorabh and Anika who performed a medley of classic western and pop songs, the seniors from Gujarati Samaj who never fail to bring a plethora of color to any show and Sriom’s Padmini Nrithya Kala Niketan who performed a fusion of western music accompanied by a traditional South Indian dance (Bharatanatyam).

The chief guests then took to the stage to release the anniversary edition of Devi’s Voice, which is in its 11th year as a publication that provides articles on spirituality, health, physical and mental wellbeing and news on Sri Om’s activities in NZ and its presence throughout the world for FREE.

The catering was done in-house by the devotees of Sri Om Inc with a flavorful combination of North and South Indian food. As the guests enjoyed the hot food the MC announced the commencement of the second part of the show which involved singing performances and dance performances by frequent performers such as Deepti, Karuna and Ashok.
